摘要: Lane closures due to highway work zones introduce many challenges ensuring smooth traffic operations and a safe environment for drivers workers. In addition, merging has been found be one of the most stressful aspects driving merge process that is viewed as “unfair” through actions like queue jumping can lead further unsafe behaviors stemming from “road rage.” To address these issues, in this project will focus on lane control solutions intermediate long-term zones. order evaluate network performance, driver behavior, operations, impacts safety, several tools were used. Using combination field observations, microsimulation, dynamic assignment tools, main objective was develop procedural guide or decision tree freeway zone planning. This would then presented Texas Department Transportation pilot training workshop. microsimulation software, with VISSIM, analysis different applications concepts delay safety project. appropriately draw conclusions about identify trends early merge, late signal first explored thorough literature review. addition queuing completed using Federal Highway Administration’s Surrogate Safety Assessment Model (SSAM) used effects implementing rear-end lane-change conflicts. Compiling data collection, VISSIM outputs, SSAM general decisions provided.
