Assessment of anxiety and depression in oral mucositis patients undergoing cancer chemoradiotherapy: A randomized cross-sectional study

摘要: Introduction: Oral mucositis is an unavoidable complication occurring during the treatment of cancer by radiotherapy, concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT), or chemotherapy. This a painful sequelae, significantly affecting nutritional intake and quality life. Materials Methods: A multicentric cross-sectional study was done at four centers in Hyderabad. About 455 subjects both genders between 20 80 years undergoing such as chemotherapy (Group I), CCRT II), radiotherapy within 14 days initiation III), after therapy IV) who had oral were included study. self-addressed Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale questionnaire used to assess anxiety/depression therapy-induced patients. Results: Group III established anxiety (58.82%) followed IV (47.5%) patients showing severe mucositis. In I, 47.17% II, 40% with borderline mild mucositis, which statistically significant (P = 0.01). depression 56.36%, 39.62% showed I II moderate associated result 0.02). Conclusion: maximum participants depression, closely III, least I. Thus appropriate intervention form nonpharmacological pharmacological warranted.
