摘要: Introduction Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is common amongst recreational runners and associated with altered running kinematics. However, it currently unclear how sex may influence kinematic differences previously reported in patellofemoral pain. This case-control study aimed to evaluate lower limb kinematics males females without during prolonged running. Materials methods Lower 3D were sampled 20 PFP (11 females, 9 males) asymptomatic a 3 km treadmill run. Data analysed when mean-pooled as mixed groups (PFP versus control) individual sub-groups. Results Mixed-sex found have significantly greater peak hip adduction (mean difference=4.9°, d=0.91, 95% CI 1.4–8.2, p=0.01) compared matched controls. Analyses for all other variables non-significant. Females ran female controls difference=6.6°, p=0.02, F=3.41, 0.4–12.8), but not or PFP. of sub-group comparisons Conclusion Differences between those appear be driven by participants, highlighting potentially different treatment targets the sexes. Future research encouraged report separately females.
