Participative backcasting: A tool for involving stakeholders in local sustainability planning

摘要: Abstract This paper reports on the use of a backcasting approach with local stakeholders in five European cities where several Images Future were formulated for household consumption sustainable cities. The aim was to find methods inspiring participate discussions about sustainability long-term perspective. Previous exercises similar kinds have mainly involved experts. A method based workshops and back-office work developed is described analysed here, together results obtained. outcomes terms ideas, votes dimensions are also discussed. findings suggest that worked reasonably well, process quality receiving highest ratings. perceived as less reliable. Adaptations should include more efforts recruit participants varied backgrounds innovative approaches liberating subjects’ minds during time travel stage process. obtained show there appears be common set popular ideas everyday city life EU, including organic food, greener environment, better public transport opportunities non-motorised reorientation values.
