摘要: Abstract The reaction between free available chlorine (FAC) and the pyrinidine base uracil, was studied over a pH range of 5–9 at FAC to uracil ratios 0.5 5 mol −1 . Rate constants for were obtained primary chlorination products identified. found adhere very well mixed second order kinetics molar ⩾ ∼ 1.0. At ratio , demonstrated reasonable empirical fit same kinetic model. rate constant markedly dependent increasing from approx. 0.3 M s = above 7 low while respective values high 90 yielded exclusively 5-chlorouracil higher ratios, dichlorouracil isolated in pure form characterized spectrometrically. This material only organic chloramine detected any systems.
