摘要: Increasingly, scientists and funding agencies such as the US National Science Foundation are recognizing need for better science communication more effective broader impacts activities. Compelled to make research relevant public stakeholders policy makers, researchers look ways gain necessary skillset move their from field laboratory into forums. We suggest that ancient discipline of rhetoric provides a useful – underutilized path forward. Building fundamental connections between ecology drawing practical examples at intersection these two fields, we demonstrate how can inform training in academic writing impacts, promote interdisciplinary cross-institutional collaborations support sustainability science. Integrating helps address complex pressing problems through improved understanding, cooperation, actions.
