摘要: In knowledge translation, complex interventions may be implemented in the attempt to improve uptake of research-based practice. Traditional evaluation efforts that focus on aggregate effectiveness represent an oversimplification both environment and themselves. However, theory-based approaches evaluation, such as realist (RE), better-suited examination translation with a view understanding what works, for whom, under conditions. It is aim present state-of-the-art review examine current literature regard use RE assessment within healthcare environments. Multiple online databases were searched from 1997 through June 2013. Primary studies examining application or implementation settings using selected inclusion. Varying applications across examined terms a) reporting core elements RE, b) potential feasibility this method. A total 14 (6 study protocols), published between 2007 2013, identified Projects initiated variety represented range interventions. While majority authors mentioned context (C), mechanism (M) outcome (O), minority reported development C-M-O configurations testable hypotheses based these configurations. Four completed results included refinement proposed offered explanations framework. few offering insight regarding challenges associated difficulties expressed definition mechanisms contextual factors. Overall, was perceived time-consuming resource intensive. The relatively new; however, theory-building area increasing researchers identify whom circumstances. Completion cycle challenging, particularly configurations; approach explore innovations its application, rich detailed accounts feasibility.
