摘要: Abstract Strategies to enhance process performance of anaerobic digestion remain key importance achieve further spreading this technology for integrated resource recovery from organic waste streams. Continuous inoculation the microbial community in digester via feedstock could be such a cost-effective strategy. Here, fresh activated sludge (WAS) was compared with sterilized WAS response two common disturbances, i.e., overloading and increasing levels salts, determine inoculation. A pulse loading rate severely impacted digesters fed sterile WAS, 92 ± 45 % decrease methane production, 42 31 increase relative production before pulse. Increasing salt pulses did not show clear difference between obtained even at highest 25 g Na+ L−1. Feedstock sterilisation strongly digesters. In conclusion, can considered cheap, yet, disturbance-specific strategy stability full-scale processes.
