摘要: During an outbreak of paralytic poliomyelitis in Finland 1984 and 1985 the widespread circulation causative wild-type serotype 3 poliovirus population was documented by demonstrating virus sewage water specimens 13 different locations greater Helsinki district other cities or towns all over country. After nationwide campaign with oral vaccine 1985, serotypes 2 were readily isolated from waters for up to months, whereas type 1 seemed disappear more rapidly. All these isolates temperature sensitive therefore most likely related. The efficacy vaccination regard elimination epidemic strain evaluated a follow-up study on viruses continued 12 months through subsequent expected season poliomyelitis. Several types enteroviruses, including five vaccine-related strains, identified 72 virus-positive out 93 studied. No polioviruses found, indicating success campaign.
