摘要: The Alano section has been presented at the International Subcommission on Paleogene Stratigraphy (ISPS) as a potential candidate for defi ning global boundary stratotype and point (GSSP) of late Eocene Priabonian Stage. is located in Venetian Southern Alps Veneto region (NE Italy), which type area Priabonian, being exposed along banks Calcino torrent, near village di Piave. It consists ~120–130 m bathyal gray marls interrupted lower part by an 8-m-thick package laminated dark to black marlstones. Intercalated section, there are eight prominent marker beds, six crystal tuff layers, whereas other two bioclastic rudites. These distinctive layers useful regional correlation easy recognition various intervals section. easily accessible, crops out continuously, unaffected any structural deformation, rich calcareous plankton, contains expanded record critical interval GSSP Priabonian. In order further check stratigraphic completeness constrain time Stage, we performed high-resolution study integrated plankton biostratigraphy detailed magnetostratigraphic analysis. Here, present results these studies open discussion criteria driving “golden spike” that should define middle Eocene–late boundary.
