摘要: Stand stem volume growth, aboveground tree biomass and site occupancy were measured in 20-year-old mixed stands dominated by white spruce (Picea glauca [Moench] Voss) trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) to examine the effects of species composition on rate efficiency forest production. Measures derived from Plant Canopy Analyzer data indicated that sample plots fully occupied, leaf area index light interception increased with increasing softwood (SW) proportion. Relationships between SW proportion differed among metrics, suggesting basal area, stand density index, crown do not adequately represent use resource. No significant effect or production was detected, contradicting hypothesis competitive reduction facilitation might increase stands. Production based for both components combined varied weakly Efficiency metrics surrogates showed differing patterns proportion, underscoring need caution interpreting these relation resource use.
