PUBLIC CRIMINOLOGY, VICTIM AGENCY AND RESEARCHING STATE CRIME

摘要: using the example of Australia's immigration detention policies, this article engages with contemporary debates about public criminology to explore how, when researching state crime, criminologists should conceptualize victims. it is argued that what missing from (and much crime research) a systematic discussion victim agency. A number questions will be addressed throughout discussion: can victims "object" "neutral" research? Should detainees, for example, seen primarily as passive abuse? What role played by institutional ethics especially those based on medical models? research acknowledge - if not emphasize potential subjective victims; there complex and dynamic inter-relationship between researcher confronts traditional perceptions criminological research; resistance, combined research, crucial in designating particular activities criminal constructing social audience rejects them.
