摘要: Abstract : Women have always participated in armed conflict, most often as active supporters of the armies they followed. Some women, usually wives soldiers, served nurses, laundresses, cooks, and seamstresses. Others chose participation battle, including famed Mary Hays McCauly, who earned moniker "Molly Pitcher" during Battle Monmouth 1778 when she provided medical care pitchers water to Continental Army members fighting British. After shrapnel struck her husband, McCauly took up his position a gunner so that artillery crew could continue fight. Gen George Washington rewarded bravery by making noncommissioned officer. The story Molly Pitcher symbolizes realities women war, which has affected them some capacity, despite civilized society's best attempts protect gentler sex from war's brutality. Yet, regardless Pitcher's successes on battlefield, American culture traditionally denigrated female war. In cultures, even today, idea woman engaged combat operations is anathema. History, therefore, either completely dismissed contributions conflicts or relegated their involvement scandalous supporting roles, such prostitutes pillow-friendly spies. an effort explore whether current US laws policies excluding remain valid need amending, this article reviews three case studies demonstrate variety ways modern conflict. first one examines experiences World War II Soviet pilots more traditional second analyzes asymmetric aspects focusing specifically terrorist activities.
