The more the better? Cumulative issue ownership and intra-campaign party switching

摘要: Abstract We contribute to the literature on short term changes in voters' party preferences (or intra-campaign switching), by advancing a factor that has been neglected so far: Voters' perceptions about parties' issue competence. develop model of switching includes both classic predictors and ownership considerations. Moreover, contrast usual single conception focusing deemed most competent solve important problem, we argue voters base their choice competence variety issues, i.e. cumulative ownership. test our panel data from 2015 Swiss election study. The change appears as strong predictor switching: higher increase number issues which see during campaign, likelihood switch party.
