摘要: Mollusciciding is still considered the most important means of control schistosomiasis where volume water per caput small. In rural communities cost synthetic molluscicides and/or chemotherapy prohibits their use. Plant molluscicides, applied as crude aqueous suspensions are source cheap, effective and environmentally acceptable alternatives. Further, infected likely to accept use local indigenous plants, particularly if they have more than one application, since familiar with properties growth characteristics. this study activity six South African plants were assessed. Suspensions leaf material bioassayed for using Bulinus africanus. Probit analysis was used calculate LD50 LD90 values. Three species would receive priority further investigations extract stability toxicology, i.e. comprehensive evaluation. For purpose ranked on toxicity suspensions, highest level previously recorded in literature, cultivation potential. Ranks each plant summed Gardenia thunbergia, Apodytes dimidiata, Warburgia salutaris had lowest cumulative rankings (i.e. molluscicidal greatest potential).
