ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF DENTURE CLEANSERS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

摘要: The objective of current study was to compare the efficacy denture cleansers and find out most efficacious cleanser against Candida. This randomized control trial with sample size eighty conducted at Prosthodontic Department de,Montmorency College Dentistry, Lahore, Microbiological test were performed PGMI Lahore from Febuary 2003 October 2003. Patients who regularly wearing their dentures without any occlusal disharmony for more than six months included. Group A, B, C, D used determine effect “Sno Wite” (4% sodium hypochlorite), “Klinzar” (effervescent tablet metaborate), “Lacer Chlorhexidine” (0.12% Chlorhexidine), plain water (control) respectively on Sabouraud’s dextrose agar (Laboratorios Britania S.A. Los Patos, Argentina) as a culture medium. Germ tube identify Candida albicans. Where hypochlorite added CFUs found in non cases, no gram negative rods or positive streptococci seen. With metaborate only one case candida (5%) detected, chlorhexidine also detected. While distilled group 13 cases (65%) has been It concluded that are effective hypochloride is cleaners compared 0.12% chlorhexidine.
