摘要: After the original demonstration of striking remissions breast cancer which follow removal ovaries premenopausal women [1] or adrenal glands postmenopausal patients [2], it has become established that hormone deprivation affords effective, though often temporary, therapy for some but not all individuals with advanced cancer. Clinical experience shown about half younger can expect benefit from ovariectomy, a much smaller fraction (20–25%) respond to adrenalectomy hypophysectomy. A method predicting priori cancers are hormone-dependent type would greatly enhance usefulness endocrine ablation, especially in older patient. One could restrict its application those reasonable chance success, thus sparing majority trauma major surgery cannot help them and renders less able tolerate alternative types therapy. It now appears objective may be attained by determining estrogen receptor content specimen tumor.
