Main-Chain Chiral Poly(2-oxazoline)s: Influence of Alkyl Side-Chain on Secondary Structure Formation in the Solid State

摘要: The influence of the side-chains main-chain chiral poly(2-oxazoline) s on their thermal properties was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and nature obtained melting endotherms further by annealing polymers. Poly(R-2-ethyl-4-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (p-R-EtEtOx) found to be amorphous, while polymers with longer are semi-crystalline. Previously we reported that chirally ordered crystals poly(R-2-butyl-4-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (p-R-BuEtOx) have a high temperature more than 200 degrees C. in this work demonstrate elongation from butyl octyl results decrease crystallization rate suggesting p-R-BuEtOx based close packing enhancing diploar interactions between tertiary amide moieties. Crystallizaiton may then driven side-chains. This is supported observation side-chain length increases rate. Moerover, an additional endotherm appears for these at lower upon ascribed dual crystal size population. Circular dichroism (CD) measurements semi-crystalline polymer films revealed presence X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns closer poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazoline) compared non-chiral polymers, suggested result form ordering crystals. Grazing incidence wide angle x-ray scattering (GIWAXS) indicated do not helical structure, however, substrate does type structure formed.
