摘要: Abstract The use of related species to integrate important traits into cultivated crops is a common practice in plant breeding. Gaura coccinea and, potentially its derived drummondii , could be donor for introgressing cold tolerance non-hardy G. lindheimeri . However, and acclimation has not been studied these species, so protocols determining are required. objectives this study were determine the relative whether short day photoperiod involved acclimation. from Texas, USA Minnesota subjected freezing tests using whole or electrolyte leakage after natural non-acclimation conditions. genotypes able withstand colder temperatures (−12 °C) than Texas (−9 °C). Acclimation capacity was determined assays three different organs—stem, crown, rhizome. Underground rhizomes best predictors tolerance, however they difficult obtain. Stem sections (Texas) (Minnesota Texas) used shift under days. demonstrated greater 3 weeks days while did change even 5 weeks.
