Prevalence of alexithymia in patients with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures and epileptic seizures and predictors in psychogenic non-epileptic seizures.

摘要: Abstract Objective The first objective of this study was to determine the prevalence rate alexithymia (dysregulation and unawareness emotion) in patients with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNESs) epileptic (ESs). second identify predictors PNESs. Methods We studied 66 consecutive PNESs 35 ESs Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20. determined both groups. In order risk factors PNES, Trauma Symptom Inventory-II (TSI-II), MMPI 2-RF, a clinical history, demographic variables were studied. Results Our revealed PNES ES 36.9% 28.6%, respectively (not significant difference). Upon examining group we found correlation between Anxious Arousal (r = .497, p  Conclusion Symptoms psychological trauma cynicism diagnosed associated alexithymia. These findings are encouraging, as they assist better understanding condition treatment design for subset patients.
