摘要: This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of an operating system module, Congestion Manager (CM), which provides integrated network flow management exports a convenient programming interface that allows applications to be notified of, adapt to, changing conditions. We describe API by with CM, architectural considerations factored into design. To evaluate architecture API, we our implementations TCP; streaming layered audio/video application; interactive audio application using show they achieve adaptive behavior without incurring much end-system overhead. All flows including TCP benefit from sharing congestion information, are able incorporate new functionality such as control behavior.
