摘要: Particle image velocimetry (PIV) has been gaining acceptance as a routine tool to evaluate the flow fields associated with fluid mechanical devices. We have developed algorithms investigate wall shear-rates within 50cc Penn State artificial heart using low magnification, conventional particle (PIV). Wall shear implicated in clot formation, major post-implant problem hearts. To address issues of scattering and incomplete measurement volumes, near measurements, we introduced zero masking centroid shifting technique. Simulations different velocity were conducted techniques assess their viability. Subsequently, applied experimental data collected. The results indicate that size interrogation region should be chosen small possible maximize resolution while large enough ensure an adequate number particles per region. In current study, 16 x window performed well good spatial density for estimation rate. PIV allow shear-rate estimates obtained from sites at one time. Because planar field can determined relatively rapidly, may prove useful any preliminary design procedure.
