摘要: Although research has documented that perceptual elaboration (e.g., imagery) can increase false memory, prior not ascertained whether such effects are due to the act of generation or simply from exposure details. Two experiments explored this question using eyewitness suggestibility paradigm. Experiment 1 compared effect generating descriptions suggested items with reading elaborated versions alone. 2 participants who generated read same descriptions. Generating a description increased memoryand accurate memory for items’ actual source, relative comparable control conditions. Generation also claims having (false) vivid recollection in event.
