摘要: Few data from randomised prospective studies address whether early diet influences later neurodevelopment in man. As part of a larger multicentre trial, 502 low birthweight infants were assigned randomly, for median 30 days, to receive preterm formula or unfortified donor breast milk as sole diets supplements their mothers' expressed milk. Surviving assessed at nine months after expected date delivery without knowledge feeding regimen. The mean developmental quotient was 0.25 standard deviations lower those fed rather than formula. In mother's milk, however, the disadvantage receiving banked compared with supplement, greater when supplement over half total intake, and approached five points, representing 0.5 quotient. Infants particular following fetal growth retardation, quotients 5.3 points lower. We suggest that used babies brief, but perhaps critical, postnatal period has consequences persist into infancy; who are small gestational age especially vulnerable suboptimal nutrition.
