Synthesis, characterisation and substitution kinetics of unusually labile trans-[Co(tmen)(diamine)Cl2]+ complexes

摘要: Abstract The mixed diamine complexes trans -[Co(tmen)(diamine)Cl 2 ] + have been synthesised (tmen = NH C(Me) NH ; diamine = en = NH (CH ) , and ibn = NH CH ). Replacement of one en ligand in -[Co(en) Cl by tmen engenders an enormous rate enhancement (2000-fold) for acid hydrolysis. Solvolysis rates measured Me SO DMF these also -[Co(tmen) which is more reactive again (10 4 -fold). reactivities at 2 °C establish that the kinetic effect replacing each incremental, extreme base catalysed racemisation (+)-[Co(tmen) 3 3+ can now be explained on this basis.
