But after a few months I to suspect fields might be temporarily inhabited only and invaded each year. Trapping nearby reed-bed indicated hold permanent populations could provide wheatfield's colonists; so another intensive population there. Though related, these two studies have been presented separately (see Newsome (1969) for reed-bed) because ways habitats were different. In wheatfield, control extrinsic whereas intrinsic factors played part it. As MacArthur & Connell (1966) suggested, kind of depended on harshness environment. Descriptions climate, soils, vegetation study-area, which is area dominated by red-brown earths shown Fig. 1, follow.
