摘要: The problem of bacterial pollution in shellfishing areas is not uncommon the coastal regions United States. Bacterial contamination from man's activities can effectively reduce our natural shellfish resource by forcing their closure because high potential risk diseases being spread harvested these areas. Tillamook Bay, a relatively small, enclosed drainage basin nonurban character, presents an excellent study area for observing this problem. population density animals, raised on small floodplain area, represents one major sources bay. This paper summarizes history agencies involved with and current approach to alleviate bay without unduly penalizing other industries basin. also some legal aspects reducing water harvesting jurisdiction federal matters. Finally, recommendations are given output source categories basin, criteria harvest developed protect public bacterially contaminated shellfish.
