Factory without Walls? Work and Non-work in the Facebook-Policies of Finnish Companies

摘要: Company guidelines often regulate communication on Facebook, at least during work hours. Guidelines for social media use are maintained because Facebook can be used both professional and private purposes, the boundary between non-work remains unclear. Building claim of factory, we theorize dynamics impacts company regulation extending to non-work. We explore empirically how personal work-related uses described kept separate in policies 30 Finnish companies. Our analysis is based qualitative methods using open axial coding. Two different groups emerged analyses: one group invasive reinforced by harsh sanctions another, smaller group, which had less laxer sanctions.
