摘要: The use of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) may not be an accurate tool to provide reimbursement for trauma services. This study aimed determine whether Australian Refi ned (AR-DRGs) adequately describe the patient episode and identify AR-DRG groupings where was commensurate with actual cost. allocated costs a sample 206 episodes were reviewed during three-month period. Of groups identifi ed in episodes, 62.8% cost incurred, equating overall loss $113,921 from under-funded acute over Assault-related penetrating trauma, traffi c-related sport-related incidents all inadequately reimbursed using AR-DRGs compared treatment. Cases involving female patients, patients aged 45 years or less those moderate injuries similarly underfunded. are adequate extent experienced by there is need investigate alternative funding models
