摘要: Mental health is an integral part of overall status but has been a largely neglected issue in the developing world especially among female sex workers (FSWs). This study examines prevalence and correlates major depression FSWs southern India. Major was assessed using Patient Health Questionnaire-2 scale data from cross-sectional Behavioral Tracking Survey, 2010-2011 conducted (n = 1986) Andhra Pradesh, state Almost two-fifths (39%) reported depression. Multivariate logistic regression analysis shows significant association between following characteristics for FSWs: low autonomy, alcohol use, experience violence, police arrest, inconsistent condom use with clients, mobility work, being HIV positive or not wanting to disclose status. Research advocacy efforts are needed ensure that mental issues marginalized groups appropriately addressed prevention programs.
