摘要: Background: There are few publications on the histopathological spectrum of cancer arising from colon and rectum in this country. Knowledge findings colorectal (CRC) biopsies will help reveal type cancers, most common grade prevalent anatomical distribution, demographical distribution as well association clinical symptoms with various conditions. This inform interventions to be made. Methodology: The study employed a retrospective design data archived slides extracted Department Pathology, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, January 2009–September 2018. were reviewed establish diagnoses biopsies. Results: A total 237 CRC cases reviewed, mean age was 54.61 ± 17.62 years, modal being 75 years. ranges 5 91 group 50–59 years recording 22.36%. male-to-female ratio is 1:1.09. Rectal cancers relatively more constituting 48.10% compared colonic which contributed 45.57% cases, rectoanal recorded 6.33% cases. Adenocarcinoma 209 (88.19%) squamous cell carcinoma accounting for 21 (8.86%) 4 neuroendocrine representing 1.62% 2 non-Hodgkin's lymphomas contributing 0.84% sarcoma single case (0.42%) number cancers. Conclusion: incidence ascendency continues pose major health risk sub-Sahara African population. Females at slightly increased frequently located rectum, high-grade CRCs.
