摘要: Abstract In this paper we report a novel optical technique based on the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon for studying elastohydrodynamic lubricated (EHL) dimple. While it is well known that refractive index (RI) variation in lubricant may provide direct information pressure distribution inside highly pressurized EHL dimple, one can obtain spectral SPR absorption curve, which corresponds to unique color complexion image. We have performed experiments compare our imaging with conventional interferometry. The new provides an improvement of over 180 times measurement accuracy. More importantly, measures RI directly and does not require any film thickness. light these advantages, detection approach reported herein should be attractive contacts.
