摘要: Aging is a biological process that affects most cells, organisms and species. Telomeres have been postulated as universal clock shortens in parallel with aging cells. are located at the end of chromosomes consist an evolutionary conserved repetitive nucleotide sequence ranging length from few hundred base pairs yeast till several kilo vertebrates. associate shelterin proteins form complex protecting chromosomal deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) recognition by DNA damage-repair system. Due to “end-replication problem” telomeres shorten each mitotic cycle resulting cumulative telomere attrition during aging. When reach critical cell will not further undergo divisions become senescent or otherwise dysfunctional. Telomere shortening has only linked but also age associated diseases, including tumorigenesis, coronary artery disease, heart failure. In current review, we discuss role biology relation diseases.
