摘要: Repetitive movement of the upper extremity, whether recreational or occupational, may result in various neuropathies, prototype which is median nerve neuropathic carpal canal. The pathophysiology this process incompletely understood but likely involves both mechanical and ischemic features. Experimentally increased pressures within canal produced reproducible progressive neuropathy. Changes vibratory (threshold-type) sensibility appears to be more sensitive than two-point (innervation density-type) sensibility. specific occupational etiologies neuropathy are obscured by methodologic sociological difficulties, clearly some occupations have high incidences CTS. History physical examination usually sufficient for diagnosis, diagnostic assistance when required available through electrophysiological testing, CT scanning, possibly MRI. Each these tests has limitations sensitivity specificity. Treatment usual conservative means should combined with rest from possible provocative activities. Surgical release helpful patients failing therapy. Occupational modifications important treatment prevention due repetitive trauma.
