摘要: As an exercise in model sensitivity, the Environmental Protection Agency's regional oxidant (ROM) was run for several simulations to study impact of across-the-board reductions anthropogenic volatile organic compound (VOC) and NOx emissions on photochemical environment eastern United States. The ROM, which simulates most physical chemical processes responsible formation O3 scales, used simulate a widespread high episode Separate were performed over period July 2–10, 1988, each sensitivity runs. An operational evaluation diagnostics base case simulation. runs reduced VOC separately combination increments 25% full scale emissions. Biogenic held constant across all tests. Seventeen potential 25 nodes NOx, reduction matrix simulated. In analysis modeled domain (the half States) is subdivided into chemically coherent regions. Several species, including afternoon average concentrations O3, PAN, HNO3, OH, HO2 + RO2, are examined gain understanding how affected overall system test. Results presented as series statistical graphical displays illustrating response within selected subdomains emission reductions.
