摘要: Although the rate of alcohol-impaired driving among adolescents has declined in past two decades, distracted become a major public safety concern. The present study compared perceptions accident risk and social norms related to cell phone use while (CPWD), as well driving, with self-reported behavior sample 726 college students. Results indicated that although participants perceived sending text messages posing similar legally intoxicated, they were much more likely behind wheel. Furthermore, their peers being accepting having liberal views toward CPWD than own, suggesting one factor underlying discrepancy between exposure may be level acceptability attributed texting driving. Future interventions benefit from focusing not only on perception, but norms, legal consequences, adaptive alternatives.
