摘要: In the chick embryo, left–right asymmetric patterns of gene expression in lateral plate mesoderm are initiated by signals located and around Hensen's node. Here we show that Caronte (Car), a secreted protein encoded member Cerberus/Dan family, mediates Sonic hedgehog (Shh)-dependent induction left-specific genes mesoderm. Car is induced Shh repressed fibroblast growth factor-8 (FGF-8). activates Nodal antagonizing repressive activity bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs). Our results define complex network antagonistic molecular interactions between Activin, FGF-8, Lefty-1, Nodal, BMPs cooperate to control asymmetry embryo.
