摘要: Cytochromes c (cyt c) and c1 are heme proteins that essential for aerobic respiration. Release of cyt from mitochondria is an important signal in apoptosis initiation. Biogenesis c-type cytochromes involves covalent attachment to two cysteines (at a conserved CXXCH sequence) the apocytochrome. Heme catalyzed most by holocytochrome synthase (HCCS), which also necessary import apocytochrome (apocyt c). Thus, HCCS affects cellular levels c, impacting mitochondrial physiology cell death. Here, we review mechanisms function roles residues motif. Additionally, consider concepts emerging within prokaryotic cytochrome biogenesis pathways.
