摘要: [1] The increasing demands upon groundwater resources due to expanding metropolitan and agricultural areas are a serious challenge, particularly in semiarid arid regions. In Iran, decades of unrestrained extraction for domestic, agricultural, industrial use have resulted precipitous depletion this valuable resource. Here we show that the decline levels is associated with land-surface deformation on local regional scales. Combining water-level data satellite radar observations provides evidence prevalence compacting aquifers country. Groundwater level often destruction aquifers, which appears be common problem basins central northeast Iran. Global warming future climate change will affect coming decades, further augmenting hazards groundwater-induced land subsidence.
