摘要: Photosynthetic prokaryotes of the genus Prochlorococcus play a major role in global primary production world's oligotrophic oceans. A recent study on pelagic bacterioplankton communities northern and central Red Sea indicated that predominant cyanobacterial 16S rRNA gene sequence types were from cells belonging to high-light-adapted ecotype (HL II). In this study, we analyzed microdiversity sp. at multiple depths within below euphotic zone northern, central, southern regions Sea, as well surface waters same locations, but different season. dominated clone libraries amplified 16S-23S internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region. Almost no differences found between samples coastal or open-water sites, high diversity ecotypes was detected 100-meter depth water column. addition, an unusual dominance HL II-related sequences observed deeper waters. Our results indicate harbors diverse lineages, novel ecotypes, despite its physicochemical properties.
