摘要: This study explored secondary effects of a multisite randomized alcohol prevention trial on tobacco, marijuana, and other illicit drug use among sample incoming college students who participated in high school athletics. Students (n = 1,275) completed series Web-administered measures at baseline during the summer before starting 10 months later. were to one four conditions: parent-delivered intervention, brief motivation enhancement intervention (Brief Alcohol Screening Intervention for College [BASICS]), condition combining parent BASICS, assessment-only control. A analyses variance evaluating outcomes 10-month follow-up assessment revealed significant reductions marijuana received combined compared BASICS-only control groups. No differences between treatment conditions found tobacco or use. Our findings suggest potential utility targeting both when developing peer- parent-based interventions transitioning college. Clinical implications future research directions are considered.
