摘要: I investigated how male and female captive canaries (Serinus canaria) decide to divide resources among their nestlings. Specifically, examined whether parents partitioned food in proportion the size-related competitive prowess of young or postural begging intensity. Females responded both aspects nestling behaviour. They allocated relation height attained by offspring during as well intensity display. When brood was especially hungry, mothers additionally favoured at front nest, nearest perch position. By contrast, males only ability, simply preferring that reached higher begging. compare these findings with previous work on other species discuss why females changed provisioning rules hunger.
