摘要: Aquaporins (AQPs) have been recognized to promote tumor progression, invasion, and metastasis are therefore as promising targets for novel anti-cancer therapies. Potentially relevant AQPs in distinct cancer entities can be determined by a comprehensive expression analysis of the 13 human AQPs. We analyzed presence all AQP transcripts 576 different normal lung non-small cell (NSCLC) samples using microarray data validated our findings qRT-PCR immunohistochemistry. Variable several (AQP1, -3, -4, -5) was found NSCLC tissues. Furthermore, we identified remarkable differences between subtypes regard AQP1, -3 -4 expression. Higher transcript protein levels AQP4 well-differentiated adenocarcinomas suggested an association with more favourable prognosis. Beyond water transport, mining co-expressed genes indicated involvement cell-cell signalling, cellular movement lipid metabolism, underlined important physiological functions benign tissue. Our accentuate need identify functional redundancies active cells order assess their value drug targets.
