摘要: This article argues that as land becomes scarce and rents rise the period of unfettered exploitation frontier regions, their use for siting major noxious facilities, is drawing to a close. The factors leading formation local-national coalitions successfully oppose environmentally deleterious initiatives both capital state are described Israeli case. A number recent cases where such managed block development in Israel's remote periphery briefly reviewed illustrate this process. It suggested case but one point global trend. Thus, it seems availability sites facilities decreasing also on scale. Several planning policy implications change advanced.
