摘要: The kinesin motor proteins generate directional movement along microtubules and are involved in many vital processes, including cell division, eukaryotes. superfamily is characterized by a conserved domain of ∼320 residues. Dimeric constructs N C class kinesins, with the domains at opposite ends heavy chain, move towards microtubule plus minus ends, respectively. Their crystal structures differ mainly region linking core to α-helical coiled coil dimerization domain. Chimeric kinesins show that regions outside determine direction mutations linker have strong effect on motility. Recent work chimeras mutants discussed structural context giving insights possible molecular mechanisms directionality
