摘要: Ferritins, highly symmetrical protein nanocages, are reactors for Fe2+ and dioxygen or hydrogen peroxide that found in all kingdoms of life many different cells multicellular organisms. They synthesize iron concentrates required to make cofactors proteins (heme, FeS, mono diiron). The caged ferritin biominerals, Fe2O3•H2O also antioxidants, acting as sinks oxidants scavenged from damaged proteins; genetic regulation biosynthesis is sensitive both oxidants. Here, the emphasis here oxidoreductase chemistry, ion channels Fe 2+ transit into out cage 3+ O mineral nucleation, uses cages nanocatalysis nanomaterial synthesis. reactors, likely critical transition anaerobic aerobic on earth, play central, contemporary roles balance oxygen chemistry biology have emerging nanotechnology.
