Evidence for a primordial magnetic field during the meteorite parent body era

摘要: A total of 247 measurements natural magnetic remanence (NRM) and effective susceptibility meteorites tabulated by Herndon et al. (1972) from Russian data is investigated. log-log plot p¯, moment/gm, versus x¯, susceptibility/gm, shows a straight line relation with slope unity over range meteorite types extending the achondrites at low Fe-Ni end to stony-irons, span in p¯ x¯ between four five orders. In view wide variability different classes effects unstable soft magnetization, this unexpected. One suggestion common background field; supports hypothesis an ancient field time formation. An estimate primordial strength cannot be made certainty because H = 1.8/ρ ²N, where ρ density N average carrier demagnetization factor; can vary zero 4 π.
