摘要: About 65 million years ago (Mya) some extinctions occurred on our planet that are so notable they define the boundary between two of three eras Phanerozoic Eon. These Mesozoic and Cenozoic and, a finer scale, Cretaceous Tertiary periods. The cause has long been subject debate, with hypotheses spanning gamut from sudden global catastrophe via exotic extraterrestrial event to gradual bioevolutionary turnover natural terrestrial processes. My belief is lack understanding critical time-rock relationships at about Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) produced conceptual asymmetry in fact, illusion (McLean, 1981a). After 10 integrating elements dozen fields science search for principles involvement carbon cycle evolution earth’s climate life, which I have concentrated upon K-T contact record because it rich information, see no oceans or lands, certainly simultaneous catastrophe. Instead, during transition interval spans hundreds thousand years. In this chapter, attempt remove unify data base mantle-degassing perturbation cycle.
