Safety skills training for surgeons: A half-day intervention improves knowledge, attitudes and awareness of patient safety

摘要: Background Education and training of health care professionals is necessary to achieve sustainable improvements in patient safety. Despite its inherently risky nature, little specifically safety has been conducted the surgical disciplines. In this study we explored effects a skills program on residents' knowledge, attitudes, awareness Methods A half-day incorporating awareness, analysis, improvement was delivered residents from 19 hospitals London, United Kingdom. Participants were assessed terms knowledge (MCQs) attitudes (validated questionnaire; scale 1 5) before after training. To determine long-term effects, 6 months participants identified reported observed events their own workplace by using an observational form for data collection. Results total 27 surgeons participated program. Knowledge significantly improved course (mean pre = 45.26% vs mean post 70.59%, P Conclusion Safety with positive educational outcomes can be half day. Such may allow integrated into any curriculum, thereby next generation healthcare workforce maintain momentum.
