摘要: To elucidate the pathophysiology of zinc (Zn)-induced iron (Fe) deficiency anemia (IDA), we examined hemoglobin (Hb) concentrations, hematocrit (Ht) levels, numbers circulating red blood cells (RBC) and reticulocytes, values mean corpuscular volume (MCV), (MCH) concentration (MCHC), serum Zn, Fe erythropoietin (EPO) concentrations histopathological changes in bone marrow, spleen liver using rats fed with a standard or high Zn diet for 20 weeks. Rats exhibited significant decrease Hb Ht levels MCV, MCH MCHC values, indicating microcytic hypochromic characterized by deficiency. Also, marked was seen relative to diet. Interestingly, number RBC comparable both groups rats, although is ordinarily IDA. There were reticulocytosis extra-medullary erythropoiesis an increase EPO vs. those on These observations suggest that played role maintaining diet, preventing further progression anemia. Further, increased production may be involved induction spleen.
